India Miss Virat Kohli As Test Captain- Michael Vaughan
Indian players are facing backlash after their loss to the visitors (England). In the first test match of the series, even after getting the lead of 100+ runs in the first inning, the host team led by Rohit Sharma looked clueless to England’s players, Ollie Pope and Tom Hartley. In the second inning, both players played a vital role in England’s victory. India’s greats like Anil Kumble also slammed bowlers for their low intensity in the second inning. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan thinks that if Virat Kohli were the captain of the India side in the red ball format, then the story of the first match could have been different.
According to Michael Vaughan, the Indian test team requires a captain like Virat Kohli in the test cricket, though he didn’t doubt the captaincy skills of Rohit Sharma. He honestly said that the players switched off completely in the second innings, which cost them the first match.
“They miss Virat Kohli’s captaincy massively in Test cricket. Under Virat’s captaincy that week, India wouldn’t have lost the game. Rohit is a legend and a great player. But I felt he just switched off completely”

The second test match between India and England will start on February 2 at Vizag. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul have been ruled out of the team due to injuries. Indian team management has called out Washington Sundar and Sarfaraz Khan as replacements, and it is highly likely that Indian fans will see Sarfaraz Khan on the field making his debut in test cricket for India. Rohit Sharma will be guiding the team, and Virat Kohli won’t be joining the team for the second test; he could be seen in the playing XI from the third test.
