Manchester United Set to Offload Donny van de Beek in Summer Clearout
Manchester United are preparing for a significant overhaul this summer, with sources indicating that Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek is among the players marked for departure. The club is planning to part ways with several non-essential assets, with Van de Beek deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Following a disappointing stint since his £39 million move from Ajax, Van de Beek‘s future at Manchester United has been uncertain. Despite his loan move to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in January, sources reveal that the Red Devils are open to selling him permanently if a suitable offer is presented.
Van de Beek’s loan deal to Frankfurt reportedly includes an option to buy for £9.4 million, with additional add-ons totaling £2.5 million. The Dutchman’s lack of consistent playing time and contribution during his tenure at United, where he managed only two goals and two assists in 62 appearances across all competitions, has led to his status as an outcast.
After a similarly underwhelming loan spell at Everton in 2022, where he made just seven appearances, Van de Beek sought opportunities at Frankfurt. Although he has started four out of seven Bundesliga games for the German side, he was notably omitted from their Europa Conference League squad.
Manchester United’s decision to offload Van de Beek aligns with their broader strategy to revamp the squad and optimize resources. With the club currently sitting sixth in the Premier League standings following a recent defeat to Fulham, they are gearing up for a crucial FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Manchester United as they navigate through their squad restructuring plans, with Van de Beek’s impending departure marking the beginning of a new chapter for both the player and the club.
