Salva Marjan Journey From school girl to Formula 4 Racing driver

Living in Perambra, Kozhikode, Kerala, India, Salva dreamed of being a formula racing driver after watching the two legendary drivers Lewis and Schumacher, made her work very hard from a very young age as she had no financial support, which is why she had to do multiple jobs. The good part for her was that her family supported her from the start as they defended her from the other people in the society who did not want her to become an F1 driver because females don’t do that in that society generally.

They were lectured on how to bring up girls, how girls were not supposed to take up such risks or be so independent. But my parents never differentiated between us based on our gender. Neither did they set any limits for me,”

Salva also said things about how she came over with the gender role thing in the sports as Formula Racing is a male-dominated sport but she has the belief to be the F1 driver.

“Our body types, functions and energy levels are different. It makes a difference in the endurance capacity. Inside a racing car, the temperature is often 40°C. The breaking pressure required in curves is 60 to 100 kg. One loses around 4 kg of body weight during the races,” she says. “A racer should have the same physique of a fighter pilot, including quick reflexes,”
