Indian Para Badminton Players Shine at Bahrain International: Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam Win Gold Medals!

The Bahrain Para badminton international concluded yesterday with two Indian athletes, Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam bagging gold medals. The tournament, held from 25th to 28th of April 2021 saw a total of 145 players from 12 different countries competing in the wheelchair event.
Pramod Bhagat clinched two gold medals and a bronze medal at the tournament, after defeating countrymate Kumar Nitesh in the SL3 singles final with a score of 21-16, 21-17. He then combined with Sukant Kadam to win yet another gold in the men’s doubles final against Nitesh Kumar and Tarun with a score of 24-22, 21-9. He also secured a bronze medal in the mixed doubles match with partner Manishaa Ramdass.
The tournament proved to be successful for many other athletes as well with Parul Parmar and Mohnish Tokas winning gold in the women’s doubles event, while Dinesh Priyankara won gold in the men’s singles event. Other noteworthy performances included silver medals by Sourabh Verma and Tarun in the men’s singles match, and a bronze medal for Mahesh Mogaveera in the mixed doubles event.
India’s Para badminton team had previously won seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals at the Spanish Para badminton International in April 2021. Pramod Bhagat was also part of this team, winning three gold medals for India in Spain.
