Swinging for the Fences: Baseball United Dubai Showcase to Launch Professional Baseball in the UAE with Stars from India and Pakistan

The UAE is set to host its first professional baseball event, the Baseball United Dubai Showcase, featuring eight promising players from India and Pakistan. The event, running from November 10 to 12 at the Dubai International Stadium, will include four matches and is part of an ambitious plan to promote baseball in the region.

The United Arab Emirates is gearing up to host its first professional baseball event, as eight young and promising players from India and Pakistan are set to join professional teams for the Baseball United Dubai Showcase. Taking place at the Dubai International Stadium from Friday, November 10, to Sunday, November 12, the event will feature four matches, signaling a new era for baseball in the region.

The opening match will be a thrilling face-off between Mumbai Cobras and Karachi Monarchs, marking a step towards “baseball diplomacy.” The other two teams representing host cities are the Abu Dhabi Falcons and Dubai Wolves. Unlike the usual Major League Baseball rosters, which consist of 26 players, the teams in Dubai will have a condensed squad of 20, including 13 position players and seven pitchers.

The teams will mainly comprise professional players from established baseball nations like the US, along with local prospects. Four players will be chosen from India, four from Pakistan, and eight from other countries in the region. Kash Shaikh, the CEO of Baseball United, expressed his optimism for the future of baseball in the region, highlighting the tools and talent of local players.

With a 15-year agreement with the Emirates Cricket Board, Shaikh and his management team have ambitious plans for the sport, including extending the series to a three-weekend event in 2024. The growing interest in baseball in the UAE and the surrounding regions, including potential additional competitions in Saudi Arabia, indicates a bright future for the sport, opening doors for local talent and fostering international cooperation through the love of the game.
