Sunrisers Hyderabad’s all-rounder Abhishek Sharma had a good match against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday evening as he hit another fifty in the IPL. After opening the chase for his team with Atharva Taid, Abhishek Sharma started playing like he always does by smashing the LSG’s bowlers all over the park. It took him just 18 balls to hit his fifty. The heated argument that followed the dismissal of the batter between him and the bowler Digvesh Rathi was the game’s highlight. However, the two resolved the matter post-match; their misconduct forced the BCCI to impose a fine on them. In fact, Digvesh Rathi was fined and suspended for one match, whereas Abhishek Sharma was fined 25% of his match fees.
SRH eventually won the match by five wickets, and Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the match for his blistering knock of 59 runs off 20 balls. With his latest fifty, he became the Player with the most fifties under 20 balls in the IPL. Nicholas Pooran and Jake Fraser McGurk are the batters he surpassed to get to the top of this list. The thing to note here is that Nicholas Pooran and Jake Fraser McGurk have done this 3 times so far for their respective franchises, whereas Abhishek Sharma now has 4 fifties in the IPL that he scored under 20 balls while playing for SRH.
Not only that, the Southpaw is the only Indian player to hit fifties under 20 balls in two different seasons. Jake Fraser McGurk holds the record for most fifties under 20 balls in one IPL season. Abhishek Sharma once again proved that his aggressive batting skills can make any score achievable for his team as his quick fifty helped his team, SRH, register its 4th victory of the season.
