India’s left-arm pace sensation, Arshdeep Singh, is one of those talented bowlers who made it to the Indian team at such a young age. Arshdeep Singh was born on February 5, 1999, in Madhya Pradesh, to Darshan Singh (his father) and Baljit Kaur (his mother). His family later moved on to Kharar, Chandigarh, where he started playing cricket. He has an elder brother who lives in Brampton, Canada. His father worked as a member of the CISF before moving to Chandigarh. Arshdeep started studying at “Guru Nanak Public School”, Chandigarh, and later started cricket training under his coach Jaswant Rai.

Domestic Career:

Arshdeep Singh’s domestic career started at a very young age due to his bowling skills, as he could bowl at 140+ speed consistently. He played for Chandigarh in the Punjab inter-district ODI championship. Singh scalped 19 wickets in five matches in the DP Azad Trophy. He got selected in the U-19 team for the 2018 U-19 World Cup after his performance in the Challenger Trophy, where he took 7 wickets for his team, India Red, and became part of the winning side in the tournament. Later, he played for Punjab U-23 in the CK Nayudu Trophy, where he showed his exceptional bowling skills and took a total of 10 wickets in the match against Rajasthan U-23. He had his list-A debut in 2018, and in 2019, he had his first-class debut playing against Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy.

IPL Career:

Arshdeep Singh made his IPL debut in 2019 for Punjab Kings, though he was inducted into the squad in 2018 but didn’t get the chance to play any games in 2018. In 2019, he played only three matches and scalped three wickets, proving that he could improve more if he was allowed to play more matches. From 2020, he has been representing Punjab Kings in the IPL, and in the IPL 2023, he scalped 17 wickets in the 14 matches he played for the team. International Career:

The international career of Arshdeep started when he got called for India’s tour of England in 2022 for T20Is and ODIs and had his international debut in T20Is. He delivered a maiden over in his debut and took two wickets. Later in July, he was selected for India’s squad for the West Indies tour, where he took seven wickets in five T20I matches. His consistent performance in T20Is booked his seat for the Asia Cup 2022 and later for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where he finished as India’s leading wicket taker, scalping 10 wickets in six matches he played. In November 2022, he finally got the opportunity to play the ODI match, and he made his debut against New Zealand but failed to scalp his first ODI wicket in the three matches he played in the ODI.
