Delhi Capitals pulled off a magical win against Lucknow Super Giants in the match 4th of the TATA IPL 2025. It was all going well for Lucknow Super Giants as the team was dominating the match; after posting 209 runs on the board, the bowlers did the work for LSG by sending 5 batters to the dugout on the score of just 60 runs. Half of the side was out of the park, and it all looked like an easy win for the Rishabh Pant-led LSG, but destiny had other plans.
Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam started building pressure on LSG’s inexperienced bowling attack, and the counterattack was phenomenal. Vipraj Nigam scored 39 runs off just 15 balls; meanwhile, Ashutosh Sharma was finding his rhythm, and once he got into the zone, he was unstoppable. After the dismissal of Vipraj Nigam, LSG picked up more wickets, and the win was just 1 wicket away, but Ashutosh Sharma was on the pitch and ensured a memorable victory for his team.
Post-match, the 26-year-old right-handed batter revealed what he felt while coming as an impact player and playing a match-winning innings for his team. Here’s what he said post-match.
“I was very normal at that time and told myself that if he takes a single, I’ll finish it with a six. I had full confidence in my ability. I really enjoyed being out there, and my hard work paid off,”
He said
Missed out on finishing the game on a couple of occasions in the previous season. The whole year I focussed and visualised it. Had the belief that if I play till the last over, anything can happen.
