Australia vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI: Haris Rauf took a fifer as Pakistan registered their biggest victory against Australia in an ODI, defeating the host by 9 wickets.
After winning the toss, Pakistan’s skipper Mohammad Rizwan decided to bowl first. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk started the innings for Australia, and McGurk was off to a great start and hit three boundaries to Naseem Shah, but Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed him in the next over as Australia lost their first wicket early. For a brief, Steven Smith held his ground, but from the other end, wickets kept falling, and it was in the 21st over when Smith got caught behind the wicket as Australia lost 5 wickets for 101. After that, no batter could score significant runs for their team. Australia was bowled out on 163 runs in 35 overs.
Chasing the target of 164 runs, Pakistan got the start they needed as openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique faced the Australian bowling attack brilliantly. Meanwhile, Saim Ayub scored his fifty as both had a partnership of 137 runs for the first wicket. Saim Ayub got out after scoring 82 runs. Abdullah Shafique scored his fifty and shared the crease with former captain Babar Azam to take his team to a 9-wicket victory, chasing the target with 13.2 overs to left.

Australia vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI: Captains’ Corner
“Wasn’t one of our best days. You hope you get more than 160. They bowled well but we wanted to get a bigger score. We got some catchers in, tried to attack, but it wasn’t to be. I’ve had a couple of chats with [Inglis] but he’ll be fine. He has a lot of experience. [On prepping for the BGT] Good training sessions, mind now switches to the red ball.”
Pat Cummins(Australia Captain) said post-match
Obviously this win gives us confidence. We want to keep that confidence going. All bowlers had plans and they worked well. [On Rauf] Not only we enjoy it, everyone outside the country also enjoys watching him bowl.”
