Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers: The Hobart Hurricanes defeated the Sydney Sixers in qualifier 1 of the BBL season 14 to enter their first final in seven years.
Sydney Sixers won the toss and invited table toppers to bat first. Mitchell Owen and Caleb Jewell started the innings for their team and scored 15 runs in the 1st over of the match to give a good start to their team. In 4 overs, both batters put 47 runs on the board, with Mitchell Owen batting at 36 runs, but in the 5th over, Owen got caught at deep square leg as Hobart Hurricanes lost their first wicket. Matthew Wade got out on 4 runs. Ben McDermott and Caleb Jewell partnered and kept running the scoreboard. Both batters failed to score their fifty, but due to their 42 and 40 runs, the Hurricanes put a good score on the board with some contribution from Tim David. Hobart Hurricanes put 173 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 174 runs, Kurtis Patterson and Josh Philippe, where the latter was sent back to the pavilion in the fourth ball of the chase by Riley Meredith, and then in the next over, Jack Edwards got out on a duck. Skipper Moises Henriques was the next victim of the Pace Bowlers, who got caught at slip by McDermott. Sydney Sixers were 3 down for just 5 runs on the board. Kurtis Patterson and Jordan Silk partnered for the 4th wicket and started closing the chase gap and took the score to 80 runs in 11 overs, but in the 12th over, Kurtis Patterson got out, and once again, the match turned to Hurricanes. Silk scored his fifty and closed the run gap even more, but a great catch by Jordan sent him back to the pavilion. Eventually, Sydney Sixers lost the match by 12 runs.
