Big Blow To Gujarat Titans As Kagiso Rabada Returns Home, Citing “Personal Reasons”

Kagiso Rabada during a match

The South African pacer Kagiso Rabada, who was purchased by Gujarat Titans in the IPL mega auction and has been leading the GT’s pace attack, has announced his departure from the IPL 2025 midway. There hasn’t been any official confirmation yet from the Gujarat Titans side as to what grounds the pacer took the decision to return home, but it seemed like due to some personal reasons the bowler took the decision.

Kagiso Rabada’s departure is a significant blow to the Gujarat Titans, who bought the pacer for INR 10 crores during the auction. His presence in the bowling department provided extra strength to the GT’s side. His death overs IQ has helped his team several times to restrict their opponents from scoring big. His wicket-picking abilities made him a lethal bowler; unfortunately, his journey with the Gujarat Titans has ended early in the league.

“Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa from the ongoing season of the IPL due to some personal reasons. The South Africa international was a part of Gujarat Titans’ first two matches of the IPL 2025. Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter,”

Gujarat Titans said in a statement.

In the absence of Kagiso Rabada, Gujarat Titans will rely on another South African pacer and fellow teammate of Rabada, Gerald Coetzee. The Afghanistan all-rounder, Karim Janat, is another option for GT to utilize.
