The bowling attack was on fire on the first day of the second semifinal in the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023. The toss went in favor of West Jaintia Hills DCA, who chose to field first, and it proved to be a good decision as their opponents were all out for just 125 in the first innings. However, Tura District Cricket Association did not let West Jaintia Hills take control, and their bowlers put on an impressive performance to restrict them to 152/10 in the first innings. The highlight of the game was Namewanki Pakyntein‘s spell, where he captured five wickets for just 26 runs. Despite their opponents’ phenomenal performance, Tura managed to finish the day on a positive note, trailing by a mere three runs after finishing on 24 without loss in their second innings.
The cricket match between WJH and Tura had a promising start for Tura, with WJH losing three wickets in under 10 overs. However, Maremdorkini Sutnga‘s unbeaten 54 from 86 deliveries helped to steady the ship and get his team above TDCA’s total. Manthan Gupta, a consistent bowler for Tura, did his part as well, taking an impressive 5/36. Tura had to bat for 5 overs before stumps, but Aritra Paul and Agatchu Chetai K Marak remained unbeaten, keeping both teams even going into the second and final day. The stakes are high for both teams, as the winner will face Shillong Cricket Association-A in the final. It will be an exciting match to watch!
