Gautam Gambhir On Rahul Dravid’s Extension As Head Coach Of The Indian Team
Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has been retained by the apex cricket governing body of India, the BCCI, as the head coach. Rahul Dravid willfully accepted the offer and defied all the rumors of him not renewing the contract after the heartbreaking ODI World Cup 2023 final loss to Australia, but since the announcement of him continuing as the head coach, various former cricketers have dropped their opinions on the decision of the BCCI. The latest one came from the former Indian opener and now politician Gautam Gambhir, who supported Rahul Dravid for accepting the offer and continuing as the head coach.
Apart from him, the contracts of all the supporting staff are also renewed.
It’s a good thing because the T20 World Cup is around the corner and you don’t want to change the entire support staff, and it is good that Rahul has accepted it. Hopefully, we can continue to dominate and play good cricket, what India has done for a long period of time. The T20 format is different and challenging and hopefully, Rahul and the support staff can deliver. Congratulations to them,”
Gautam Gambhir said to ANI
India is currently playing against Australia in a five-match T20I series, winning two of the three matches played. Currently, the team is being coached by VVS Laxman as Rahul Dravid has taken a breather for some time before getting back as head coach. Rahul Dravid succeeded Ravi Shastri as the head coach, and under him, India has so far produced the required results in all three formats. In fact, India won the Asia Cup 2023 title under his coaching, though India couldn’t win the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Their performance in the tournament was impressive. India reached the final, winning all 10 matches before getting their first defeat in the final from Australia.
