Devdutt Padikkal To Debut In The 5th Test Against England: Reports

Ex-RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal is all set to make his international test debut during the fifth test at Ranchi.

India’s left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal is likely to make his international test debut in the fifth Test match between India and England, according to the Hindustan Times. If Indian batter KL Rahul doesn’t get fit before the match, then Devdutt Padikkal will play. KL Rahul, after playing the first test against England, has remained unfit to play the remaining matches, though he was earlier expected to join the team at Dharamshala for the fifth test. So far, the updates regarding his fitness are concerning, as the cricketer is still suffering from an injury in his right quadriceps, due to which he flew to London some days ago to get the recommendation of his doctor, who treated him earlier.

India, with its victory at Ranchi, leads the series with 3-1, and now they are moving to Dharamshala for the final match. There is another update regarding the newly acquired Rajat Patidar, who is likely to lose his place in the playing XI due to his poor form in the last six innings, in which he already got two ducks. In his debut test match at Vishakhapatnam, the right-handed batter showed some class and scored 32 runs, but after that, he crossed the one-digit mark only once, and in the last inning, he got out on a duck, so the management is planning to send him back to play Ranji semi-finals for his team, Madhya Pradesh, against Vidarhbha, scheduled for Saturday.

Padikkal will make his debut in Dharamsala. Rahul is unlikely to be available and the team management wants to have a look at Padikkal as it is the last international fixture before the IPL,”

BCCI source told Hindustan Times

Devdutt Padikkal has been performing well for his team in domestic cricket, and that’s surely the reason behind including him in India’s squad for the next match.
