MI’s Coach Mark Boucher Revealed The Reason For Captaincy Change, Rohit Sharma’s Wife Replied

Mumbai Indians coach Mark Boucher revealed the reason behind MI's captaincy change, which didn't go well with Rohit Sharma's wife.

Mumbai Indians will see a change in their team line-up in this IPL as the decade-long captaincy reign of Rohit Sharma will come to an end with Hardik Pandya leading the franchise this time. Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to lift the IPL trophy five times, and that’s made it obvious to get criticism from the fans who loved watching him play as the captain. As announced by the team, Hardik Pandya, who was traded in a deal with Gujarat Titans, will lead Mumbai from the front in the IPL 2024. The question was why MI did so despite Rohit Sharma’s great track record as captain. Mumbai Indians’ coach Mark Boucher answered that in his latest interview with Smash Sports podcast.

Mark Boucher, talking about the captaincy change, said that it’s a transition phase for the Mumbai Indians and will free Rohit Sharma from the pressure of captaincy.

I think it was purely a cricketing decision. We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me it’s a transition phase. A lot of people don’t understand in India, people get quite emotional, but you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it’s just more of a cricketing decision that was made and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person as a player. Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs,

Mark Boucher said

Mark Boucher’s statement didn’t seem to go well with Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, as, replying to the podcast in the comment’s section, she wrote this:

“So many things wrong with this…”

Ritika Sajdeh replied

Though Mark Boucher praised the captaincy skills of Rohit Sharma, he wants to see him as a player now.
