Controversies:

In boxing, India’s Nishant Dev, who was fighting Mexico’s Marco Verde Alvarez in the Quarter-finals, was handed over a split decision loss. Indian fans criticized the decision, and former Indian Olympics champion Vijender Singh also commented on Nishant Dev’s loss. Nishant Dev was eliminated after the loss.

The next one cost India a Gold or an assured Silver. India’s Vinesh Phogat, who came just 100gm above her weight category before the finals, got disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 and didn’t even get her deserved Silver medal. Vinesh knocked on the Court of Arbitration for Sports door and appealed for a joint silver for herself, but it remains to be seen whether she will be rewarded a joint silver, as the verdict of CAS is yet to come.
