IPL 2024 28th Match KKR vs LSG: Match Results| Award Winners| Player Of The Match| Records| Scorecard

Here is the match result and list of the award winners of the 28th IPL 2024 match, played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.

KKR vs LSG: After getting their first defeat of the IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders got back hard against Lucknow Super Giants as the former beat the latter in a phenomenal fashion to register their fourth victory in five matches played. LSG’s batters failed to impress this time as well; apart from Nicholas Pooran and skipper KL Rahul, no batter in the LSG’s batting line-up performed as expected, and LSG could only put 161 runs on the board. KKR batter Phil Salt performed well in taking his team to its fourth win in the league.

After winning the toss, KKR’s skipper Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first at Eden Gardens. However, the start of the game wasn’t ideal for KKR as its bowler Mitchell Starc got hit for two consecutive boundaries in the first two deliveries of the match. But Vaibhav Arora soon made a comeback for KKR and took the wicket of Quinton de Kock. LSG’s change in batting order didn’t work, as Deepak Hooda was dismissed for just eight runs. KL Rahul secured one end brilliantly, but he was dismissed soon after. Later, Nicholas Pooran boosted the game and scored 45 runs to take his team to the score of 161/7 at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing a total of 162 at their home ground, KKR got the start they were looking for as KKR’s openers scored 22 runs in the first over of the chase; the trump card Sunil Narine failed to put on a show this time for his team. However, relief was not in the destiny of LSG as Phil Salt started batting in his zone and smashed every LSG bowler to score his first fifty of the IPL 2024. He was supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer, and the two didn’t give much chances to LSG’s bowlers, and the duo took their team to an eight-wicket victory.

IPL 2024 28th Match KKR vs LSG: Captains Corner

“One of those days, it was a proper hammering. Games like these are tough to digest and we have seen in IPL and every team goes through that. We will try and work out what went wrong and come back better. The ball started nipping around a lot more in the second innings, the shots that we played in the first innings, didn’t execute well and kept losing wickets in bunches and we could have got a lot more runs and that’s where we missed and lost the game.”

KL Rahul said Post-match

“Pretty much comprehensive victory. Fielded well and bowled well. Was important to bowl slower ones as much as possible because of the heat and the wicket becoming dry. We executed phenomenally well. When we got wickets, it gave us the advantage to come in and put an attacking effort. “Character and attitude bowlers showed was exceptional. Will keep reiterating that it’s a funny tournament and have to stay in the present as much as possible. Have to seize the moment and not leave it on someone else.”
