DC vs RCB: RCB reaches the top of the points table after defeating Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in match 46 of the IPL 2025.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar invited Delhi Capitals to bat first after winning the toss. Abishek Porel and Faf du Plessis started the innings for Delhi. Porel was taking on the RCB bowlers and hit 28 runs in 10 deliveries until Josh Hazlewood picked up his wicket. Karun Nair was the next to get dismissed. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis partnered briefly to take their team’s score to 72 runs. Faf was struggling to score runs, and the desperation led to his dismissal as he got caught at long-on. Josh Hazlewood cleaned Skipper Axar Patel. Just when KL Rahul started playing aggressively, he got dismissed for 41 runs. RDC bowlers didn’t let Delhi Capitals batters score big; it was Tristan Stubbs’s 34 runs that took his team to a total of 162 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 163 runs, RCB opened with new batter Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli. The new duo didn’t work for RCB, as Jacob Bethell got out in the 3rd over. In the same over, Axar Patel dismissed Devdutt Padikkal on a duck. Karun Nair’s brilliant fielding led to Rajat Patidar’s dismissal. RCB was in trouble, and that’s where Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli built the partnership required to reach the target. Virat Kohli held his end, whereas Krunal Pandya attacked the bowlers from his end. The left-handed batter scored his fifty, and Virat Kohli scored 51 runs before getting out. Tim David ended the chase with a boundary as RCB defeated DC by 6 wickets.

IPL 2025, Match 46th, DC vs RCB: Captains’ Corner
It was a total team performances, the way bowlers executed on this wickets. We’re not looking at the venues, just trying to play good cricket. Chasing gives a lot of clarity about the wicket and we plan accordingly. 160 was gettable on this surface, it’s not easy to stop them on 160 so credit to all the bowlers. We were pretty much clear about the chase. It feels great when you lead Rcb, there are many great players. It’s an opportunity for me to learn from them.

I feel like we were 10-15 runs short. Our intent was there, but the wicket was hard to bat on it was two paced and became better once the dew came on. We tried to accelerate but kept losing wickets so maybe if one batter batted along it might have been better. I think KL is batting well so batted at No. 4 because he can finish games too.
