Ishan Kishan Joins MS Dhoni In Elite IPL Club In A Wash-Out Match Against Delhi Capitals

Sunrisers Hyderabad started its IPL 2025 campaign with a great win over Rajasthan Royals, with newly acquired wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan scoring the season’s first hundred, due to which SRH managed to put 286 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs and defended the total to win it by 44 runs. It looked like the IPL 2024 runner-ups would continue their impressive performance in 2025 as well, but SRH hit rock bottom and registered only 3 wins so far, and the last match against Delhi Capitals put the final nail in the coffin as even after restricting DC for 133, SRH couldn’t able to chase the target due to incessant rain that stopped the play resulting in each team getting one point each.

Though Sunrisers Hyderabad is now out of the playoffs race, Ishan Kishan, who was behind the wickets for the first time this season, set a record for himself, which took him to stand beside great players like MS Dhoni. Ishan Kishan took four catches in the match against Delhi Capitals to register a unique record to his name. MS Dhoni also grabbed four catches in a single game back in 2020 while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Apart from grabbing four catches, Ishan Kishan became the first player to take catches of the top 4 batters of a team in a single match, making him the first to do it in 17 years of T20 history. Pat Cummins dismissed Karun Nair, Faf du Plessis, and Abhishek Porel in his spell, and all the wickets were carbon copies of each other, with the bowler and the wicket-keeper taking the catch being the same. Later, he caught KL Rahul behind the wickets to etch his name in the IPL history book.
