Latham Captains NZ in Return to T20s vs Sri Lanka, Pakistan

New Zealand is set to face Sri Lanka in next month’s home Twenty20 series and a five-match series in Pakistan. With Kane Williamson and Tim Southee playing in the Indian Premier League and unavailable for selection, wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham will lead an inexperienced Kiwi side. This will be Latham’s first return to the shortest format in nearly two years. However, coach Mike Stead is confident in Latham’s abilities, stating, “We saw against India earlier this season the power and range of shots that Tom possess. His adaptability also means he can feature in a range of batting positions.” Adding to this, Stead spoke highly of Latham’s leadership skills, having led an inexperienced T20 squad in Bangladesh in 2021 during a COVID bubble tour. It will be interesting to see how Latham and his team fare in these upcoming challenges in the T20 format.

The New Zealand cricket team is gearing up for some exciting matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and two players are set to make their T20 debut. Chad Bowes and Henry Shipley, both talented players in their own right, have been selected for the upcoming matches. Bowes, who was the former South Africa under-19 skipper and a top order batsman, is sure to bring his cricketing experience to the team. Shipley, on the other hand, made his one-day international debut in January, and has already proven himself to be a valuable asset to the squad. It will be interesting to see how these two players perform when they wear their T20 caps for the first time.

The New Zealand cricket team is set to face Pakistan in a T20 series, and while Kane Stead may skip those matches, he will return as captain for the following one-day matches. In his absence, Shane Jurgensen will take the helm, leading a talented squad that includes Tom Latham, Chad Bowes, and Jimmy Neesham. The team will face off against Pakistan’s best, including Dane Cleaver, Cole McConchie, and Blair Tickner. With both teams boasting great skill and strategy, cricket fans around the world will no doubt be tuning in to see the fierce competition.
