ICC World Cup 2023: Most Sixes, Fifties, Wickets, and Complete Awards Winners List
Australia broke Indian cricket fans and players hearts in the final after inflicting a six-wicket defeat to the host. Australia lifted the ODI World Cup trophy for the sixth time. Australia’s Travis Head was the match winner for the Australian team, as the left-handed batter scored a blistering century in the final and took his team towards victory.
India’s innings in the World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, weren’t good enough, as while batting first in the final of the tournament, India posted a total of 240 runs on the board, which was not a par score according to various experts, as a 300+ score could be a battling total for India. A quick start given by Rohit Sharma and then a resilient innings from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli took India to a decent score; both players scored fifties in the final, but Australia was too good to be beaten in the final.
Although India got quick wickets when Australia started chasing the target, the Indian bowlers couldn’t carry on the momentum as Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne built a strong partnership where left-handed batter Travis Head scored a century and Marnus scored his fifty in the World Cup final. Australia went on to achieve the target of 241 runs with 42 balls to spare.
Though India lost the final and the chance to lift the ODI World Cup trophy for the third time, Indian players played magnificently throughout their league matches and in the knockout stage as well to reach the final, and some Indian players were awarded post-match.
