Karnataka’s skipper Mayank Agarwal got hospitalized on an immediate basis when he drank a water-like liquid on the Delhi-bound flight that he boarded from Agartala airport, Tripura. After seeing the unwanted symptoms immediately after consuming the liquid, he was rushed to the hospital in Agartala. The doctors told the media that he was out of any potential danger but needed to rest for some time.
According to some eyewitnesses on the flight that was going to Surat via New Delhi, Mayank Agarwal was thirsty and picked up a bottle assumed to be the water that was kept in his front seat pocket. After taking a sip from the bottle, the cricketer started experiencing a burning sensation inside his mouth, and he quickly spat it after rushing towards the bathroom, but he found no relief. After his health started deteriorating with his face burning red, he was taken out of the flight and then admitted to the nearby hospital.
“He (Agarwal) is not in any kind of danger. He is currently under observation in a hospital at Agartala, and we will fly him back to Bengaluru once we get an update from the doctors, which we are expecting tonight,”
Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) official told PTI
Mayank Agarwal led Karnataka’s state team to win the match against Tripura by 29 runs, and the whole team was scheduled to fly to Gujarat for their next match against Railways. It is now clear that the current state’s team captain will not be joining his team for the next match and will take some rest. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s state team manager has lodged a complaint under NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to investigate the incident. Some sources in Agartala Police said that it was a cleaning agent the player drank in flight. Manish Pandey will be joining the team for the next match.
