Why Mitchell Marsh Selected As Captain Over Pat Cummins For T20I World Cup

George Bailey, who is the chairman of the Australian Cricket Board, and McDonald, who is part of the selection panel, will send the formal recommendation to change the T20I skipper for the World Cup as in the last series, Matthew Wade did the captaincy in the five-match T20I series against India after the World Cup.

“I think all roads will lead to Mitch, so just got to get that ticked off in certain areas. We’re happy and comfortable with the way he’s been able to operate with that T20 team. We think he’s the leader for the World Cup, and I think that will just be a matter of due course,” said McDonald.

Australia does not have any upcoming T20I fixtures before the T20I World Cup tournament, which is surprising because every team wants to know their best 11 before the big tournament. Still, there is IPL before the World Cup, which will benefit many teams. We have seen in the past that many players have been selected for the World Cup squad because of their great performance in the Indian Premier League.
