Mitchell Starc during an IPL match

Australian speedster, Mitchell Starc will not return to India for the remaining matches of the IPL 2025, representing Delhi Capitals this season, Mitchell Starc has been a crucial bowler in the Delhi Capitals’ bowling department and picked-up 14 wickets in the 11 matches he played. His absence will affect Delhi Capitals who is hanging from a loose thread of disqualification from the playoffs as one loss in the remaining three matches of the franchise would leave Delhi Capitals at the mercy of other teams’ games results.

The Australian will focus on the World Test Championship final and will not be penalized for his absence for the rest of the matches due to the Force Majeure Clause. Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Mitchell Marsh’s return for the rest of the matches is certain.

Among the overseas players who aren’t willing to come, Josh Hazlewood’s name is also in that list, but according to the updates, the Australian bowler, who had a shoulder injury before the suspension of the IPL 2025, will return to the RCB to play the rest of the matches for the franchise. The right-arm bowler has picked up 18 wickets in the 10 games he played, and his death overs bowling skills helped RCB to win crucial matches in the league stage. As the franchise approaches the playoffs, his presence will boost the morale of the franchise.

Romario Shepherd and Liam Livingstone have already returned to the squad for the rest of the matches, and as of now, West Indies cricket hasn’t updated about the availability of Romario Shepherd for the matches after May 29, but till then, he will remain in the squad. Apart from Mitchell Starc, Delhi Capitals’ Faf du Plessis won’t be returning to India, giving a double shock to the DC and increasing the troubles for the franchise.
