Finn Allen was joined by Matthew Short, who hit six on the first ball he faced, and from there, both batters started attacking the LAKR bowlers. The duo had a partnership of 116 runs for the second wicket; both batters scored their fifties and posted 126 runs at the end of 10 overs. Though Sunil Narine got the wicket of Matthew Short, the damage was already done. In 15.2 overs, SFU chased the target to get a winning start in the tournament.

It was nice to sit and watch Finn and Shorty take the game away from them. The boundaries aren’t big. The ball just seems to travel here. There isn’t a heap of moisture. I think the great thing about our lineup is the guys at the top, the way they play their game is very aggressive and you have to let them express themselves. That’s going to come with some ups and downs. Brody [Couch] was outstanding today.”

“Think we fell around 15-20 runs short. I think you have to think about actually taking wickets instead of just trying to bowl dot balls. The batters have to dig deep.
