“They have great self-belief” Nasser Hussain Praised England’s Strategy After The 1st Test Win

Nasser Hussain warned India to be more cautious against England after the latter's victory in the first test match.

England pulled off a win against India in the first test match, becoming the first side in the 69 years of history to beat India in Hyderabad in a test match. According to the former England’s captain and a remarkable cricketer of his time, Nasser Hussain calls the victory of the England team a wake-up call for the Indian team because England’s “Bazball” strategy can be effective in the Indian conditions where the pitch is slightly slow. England’s ultra-aggressive approach to test cricket has paid dividends so far, as the England side has yet to lose a test series in nearly two years.

Nasser Hussain praised England’s stubbornness to continue playing like this in India as well, and Ollie Pope’s fearless innings of 196 runs in England’s second innings of the first test helped England set a target of 231 runs for the host, and then debutant Tom Hartley’s spin attack shattered India’s batting order in the second innings to claim 7 wickets. Nasser Hussain praised the youngster for his mental toughness, which made him make a comeback in the second innings.

“It shows they (England) have great self-belief. They have great belief in the way they are playing the game and do things their own way. They don’t worry about outside noise, that other people would have selected other cricketers, that people thought they should have had warm-up matches.

What I like about them is their stubbornness. If you doubt them, they’ll double down on it and go even more stubborn. I think that is a good thing because if you’re constantly listening to all the noise, all that’s written and said, you flicker from one theory to another,”
