Rahul Dravid Will Be India’s Head Coach For T20 World Cup: Jay Shah

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Rahul Dravid will be the head coach of the Indian team until the 2024 World Cup.

India’s current head coach, Rahul Dravid, has been coaching the men’s senior team since 2021, and after the ICC World Cup 2023, his tenure as the head coach was over. But BCCI decided to extend the services of the former Indian captain as head coach, which he accepted. Though there wasn’t any deadline decided yet for the extension provided to Rahul Dravid as head coach, it is now guaranteed that he will be commanding the team till the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to happen in June 2024. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Rahul Dravid will remain the head coach of the team until the marquee event.

In his recent conversation with the media, Jay Shah told the media not to be worried about the contractual formalities as Rahul Dravid will be coaching the Indian team in the T20 World Cup.

Why are you worried about a contract for such a senior person like Rahul Dravid? Rahul bhai will remain the coach in the T20 World Cup,”

Jay Shah said

But to know the Dravid’s perspective about the extension until the event, Jay Shah will do a round of talks with him before the T20 World Cup.

“I will speak with him whenever there is time, there are back-to-back series happening right now. They were in South Africa, then there was a (T20I) series against Afghanistan (at home) and now England. We did not get to speak in between at all,”

He added

England is facing the host (India) in the third test match of the series at Rajkot. So far, the series is 1-1, and this test match would bring a chance for either team to lead in the series. The much-awaited debut of Sarfaraz Khan in international test cricket has finally come as he is included in the playing XI of Team India.
