Rajasthan Royals Breaks Silence After Accusations Of Match Fixing Against LSG

Nothing is going towards Rajasthan Royals’ way in the IPL 2025, from frequent injuries to regular skipper Sanju Samson to losing four consecutive matches in the league, with the last two being the close contest where they were favorites to win the game. Above all, the accusations of match-fixing escalated the troubles for the franchise. The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener, Jaideep Bihani, alleged the IPL franchise for match-fixing after its close defeat to Lucknow Super Giants by just 2 runs.

Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals were chasing the target of 181 runs against LSG at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. They got a great start to the chase with Yashasvi Jaiswal and young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi partnering for 85 runs. However, they failed to get 9 runs in the final over of the match as Avesh Khan defended it to win the match for his team by 2 runs.

The loss didn’t go well with Jaideep Bihani, who accused Rajasthan Royals of match-fixing while giving an interview to News18 Rajasthan. Bihani said that the franchise is notorious for getting into such scandals, mentioning the controversial 2013 incident where two RR players were caught spot-fixing. Bihani also alleged that the RCA was sidelined from hosting IPL matches and giving baseless excuses.

The ad hoc committee has been appointed by the state government in Rajasthan. After analysing our work, we were given an extension for the fifth time. During our tenure, we’ve conducted all competitions successfully right from the district level to the national level. However, as soon as the time for hosting IPL came, the Sports Council took control of it. For IPL, the BCCI had first sent a letter to RCA only. The excuse given by Sports Council and RR was that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Sports Council for every match?,”

Rajasthan Royals replied to the accusations by calling them “false, baseless, and without any evidence.”

“We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket.”
