Ravichandran Ashwin's Praises Rinku Singh for his composure

The India vs. Afghanistan T20I series ended with India inflicting a whitewash on the visitors, winning the series by 3-0. This was the last T20I series for India before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was scheduled to happen in June 2024. It is rightful to say that Indian selectors are eyeing the performance of the players playing in such bilateral T20I series, and arguably one of the best find-outs among the number of players is the left-handed Rinku Singh, who has been making headlines in top columns since his superhuman IPL 2023 innings in which he hit five sixes in the last over of the match for his team KKR to win the match, and he has consistently been a match winner not just in the IPL but proved himself in the T20I bilateral series.

Rinku Singh, despite being a batter who comes at number 4 or 5, where the team prefers power-hitters, has shown the management his game knowledge in the third T20I against Afghanistan by building a solid partnership of 190 runs with India’s skipper Rohit Sharma when India was once at 22-4. Now, India’s most successful spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, has come forward to praise Rinku Singh for his composure while batting in crucial situations, which reminds Ravichandran Ashwin of ex-India’s captain, MS Dhoni.

“He is somebody I’d call a left-handed Dhoni. I can’t compare Rinku Singh to Dhoni just yet because Dhoni is too big. But, I am talking about the composure that he brings. He has been consistently scoring buckets of runs for UP and broke his way into the Indian team. He was on the KKR bench for many years. People used to tell me that, when he was at KKR, even though he couldn’t get the chance to bat at practice, he collected all the balls that batters hit in throwdowns and gave them back to the bowler,”
