Delhi Capitals To Give Rishabh Pant Captaincy For IPL 2024: Report

Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant will be joining the franchise as captain in IPL 2024.

The left-handed batter and India’s wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, as per the reports, is going to make a comeback in the IPL 2024 as the batter is recovering fast and getting back to the rhythm quite well. Rishabh Pant survived a tragic accident back in December 2022, which led to some gruesome injuries due to which he remained out of the field for nearly a year, now missing the IPL 2023 and then the ICC World Cup 2023, but the good thing is that he is back on his feet and has already started practicing in the nets. According to ESPN Cricinfo, the Delhi Capitals are likely to take him back as captain of the team for the IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant joined the Delhi Capitals camp in Kolkata, and under the eyes of legends like Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, he showed his competency in batting. Though the selection of him in the franchise for the IPL 2024 hasn’t been made official yet, the chances of him being in the team as a captain are high. The Delhi Capitals chose David Warner as the interim captain for the IPL 2023, but the season didn’t go well for them as they finished second from the bottom in the IPL 2023 points table, winning only five of the 14 matches they played in the season.

The IPL 2024 auction is about to happen in Dubai on December 19th, 2023, and if Rishabh Pant is declared fit by the NCA in Bangalore by February 2024, then it will be good news for the Delhi Capitals and for the Indian team as well. After the accident, the IPL 2024 would be the first tournament Pant would play, and who knows if his performance satisfy the Indian team selectors, then fans could watch him in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as well.
