Sanju Samson, who was likely to captain Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025, won’t be able to do it in the initial few matches as the wicket-keeper batter is not fully fit. In the franchise’s first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they suffered defeat by 44 runs. Though Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel scored significant runs, the target of 287 runs was too much for Rajasthan Royals, and they lost their campaign starter.
The newly appointed captain, Riyan Parag, couldn’t score more than 4 runs in his first match, and some called the underperformance of the right-handed batter due to the new role he has to play on the ground. However, Riyan Parag refused any kind of pressure and revealed that Sanju Samson and the head coach, Rahul Dravid, are helping him to settle into the role. Riyan Parag, defending the teammates for their last match performance, said that the team is capable enough to defeat any side, and 280 runs can’t be hit against them in every match.
“I feel the middle order is always the backbone of any batting order. For them to step up like they did, for them to bat like they did, regardless of the end result, I think that’s a big plus because we are not going to give 280 every game of the season. There are going to be 180, 140, 150 games and that’s where we’ll need them the most,”
