SEC vs JSK: Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Joburg Super Kings in the eliminator to move ahead in the competition.
Joburg Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. David Bedingham and Tony de Zorzi started the innings for SEC. Both batters gave an explosive start to the innings, with David Bedingham hitting a boundary in the first ball of the match, and in 3 overs, they took the score to 42 runs, but in the 4th over, Theekshana bowled Zorzi to get the first breakthrough for his team. A stunning catch at mid-off by Faf du Plessis dismissed David Bedingham. Soon, two more wickets fell. Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs stabilized the innings as the latter scored 26 runs before getting, while the former remained not out on 62 runs and took the team’s score to 184 runs at the end of 20 overs.
JSK, chasing the target of 185 runs, started well, with Devon Conway and skipper Faf du Plessis scoring 40 runs in 4 overs. The former looked aggressive, but Marco Jansen dismissed him on the 5th to break the partnership, and on the 8th over, Faf du Plessis departed. JSK lost back-to-back wickets after that, and they were 5 down for 91 runs in 13 overs. Jonny Bairstow took the responsibility and scored quick runs for his team, but Dawson bowled him on 37 runs. No batter afterward could do much as SEC restricted JSK to 152 runs, winning the match by 32 runs.
