Shreyas Iyer And Ishan Kishan were Excluded From BCCI Central Contracts

Read the full list of players included in the BCCI Central Contracts for a year and also know why Ishan and Iyer were left out.

BCCI once again released the latest 30-member central contract list in which Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were excluded due to their in-availability for the Ranji matches even when it was compulsory to play it if the player was under the BCCI Central Contract and not playing the International matches or Injured.

Why Are Shreyas Iyer And Ishan Kishan Not Playing The Ranji Matches?

Shreyas Iyer was dropped from the 3rd Test match after not performing well against the England team and replaced by Rajat Patidar, who also failed to perform well in all four innings. Iyer returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders preseason training camp after opting out of the Ranji game by saying he had back spasms. Still, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) cleared him as a fit player and reported to BCCI, who terminated his contract.

Ishan Kishan also did not appear for the Ranji matches but chose to go to the training section of Mumbai Indian even after getting a letter from BCCI. He later came up with a statement saying that he is not prepared to play the red ball game now and is working on a specific training drill to improve himself, but still, the BCCI opted to exclude him from the central contract. However, in a recent press conference, Rohit Sharma said that we would give youngsters who have a hunger to play the test match a chance, and who do not have that hunger, then why would they give them a chance? Which might be the statement for Ishan Kishan.
