The IPL 2024 auction registered the highest ever bid for a player.
The IPL 2024 auction commenced in Dubai with 332 players (119 are international players and 214 are Indian players), 10 teams, and only 77 slots. The money numbers during the auction were staggering, and it was an overseas player who bagged the jackpot of ₹20.5 crore. All previous records of player buying were shattered. Some known players like Steve Smith, Manish Pandey, and Karun Nair had a hard time with the numbers as they went unsold. Australia’s World Cup 2023 winner Travis Head was on the list of top picks. Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad went on a bidding war where the latter got the left-handed batter in ₹6.8 crore.
