Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill was charged over a drug supply plot.

The retired Australian cricketer came to the attention of detectives in 2021 when he was allegedly kidnapped and then assaulted by some men.

Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill, who was considered one of the greatest Australian bowlers during his era, has been arrested and charged with an alleged mega-cocaine deal worth $300,000, according to the Australian media. The deal took place in 2019. The retired Australian cricketer came to the attention of detectives in 2021 when he was allegedly kidnapped and then assaulted by some men and police after their investigation came to the conclusion that it was all because of the drug deal he facilitated in 2019. The 52-year-old retired leg-spinner earlier revealed what happened to him when he got abducted.

“They stripped me naked, beat me up, threatened me, and then just dumped me”

The New South Wales police have released a statement that reads:

“In April 2021, detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Robbery & Serious Crime Squad commenced an investigation into drug supply arising out of the alleged kidnapping of a man on Sydney’s Lower North Shore in April 2021”

Following extensive inquiries, about 6pm on Tuesday 12 September 2023, strike force detectives arrested a 52-year-old man at Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with knowingly take part supply prohibited drug of large commercial quantity. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Thursday, 26 October, 2023″

Stuart MacGill, despite being a talented and skilled bowler of his era, remained in shadow due to the presence of the great Shane Warne, who was the highlight of the spin department in the Australian team. In his career, he played 44 test matches for Australia and took 208 wickets. He also got featured in 3 ODIs and scalped 6 wickets. His international career came to an end in 2008, but he continued playing in the Big Bash League until 2012 for the Sydney Sixers.
