“He’s got all the shots in the book” Sunil Gavaskar Praised This Rising Indian Batter

This left-handed Indian batter impressed Sunil Gavaskar with his batting skills.

India’s former captain and now-known cricket pandit, Sunil Gavaskar, showered praise on this young Indian batter for his game approach and batting skills. Sunil Gavaskar was all praise for Rinku Singh, who batted marvellously during the India vs. South Africa second T20I and scored his first international fifty, which took India to a respectable score of 180 runs in 19.3 overs before rain interrupted the play and the target was reduced to 152 runs for South Africa, which they needed to chase in 15 overs, and South Africa reached the target in 13.5 overs, defeating India by 5 wickets and leading the three-match T20I series by 1-0.

Sunil Gavaskar, after seeing Rinku Singh’s blitz in the second T20I, praised the youngster by saying:

I think you know what we have seen is that he is getting better when he goes out to play. He hasn’t had the opportunity like he has this time around and had a number of overs to play. He made very good use of it,

Gavaskar told Star Sports

Rinku Singh is undoubtedly a finding for the Indian team—a batter who can provide strength to the middle batting order and can play the role of the finisher for the team like once MS Dhoni did. Rinku Singh’s way of playing got everyone’s attention as India was three down and Suryakumar Yadav needed someone on the other end to take the Indian team to a defendable total, and Rinku Singh supported the stand-in captain well.

He’s got all the shots in the book. He can hit you off the front foot. He can hit you off the back foot as you see over there, with the lofted shot. He’s got all the shots in the book on the offside and on the leg side. Well, once he gets going, it’s hard to keep him quiet, so it will do his confidence a lot of good to get that first half-century,

Sunil Gavaskar added
