India’s Batter Suryakumar Yadav Will Undergo Two Surgeries Back To Back, Will Miss Few IPL Matches

"Sports hernia" and ankle injury are likely to make Suryakumar Yadav miss the domestic season and a few IPL matches

India’s Suryakumar Yadav has been a shining star in white-ball cricket, particularly T20I, where he established his dominance and still ranks at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I batters rankings, but as of now, bad news has come out regarding the star batter’s health and physical condition. Suryakumar Yadav will not play in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and will also miss the entire domestic season due to his ankle injury, plus he got Sports Hernia and is going to get his surgery done in Germany after a few days. Earlier, Indian batter KL Rahul also suffered a sports hernia back in 2022, for which he flew to Germany.

As the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to happen in June this year, it is really necessary that Suryakumar Yadav get completely fit before the event. As per the Indian Express, a BCCI official has revealed that it would take him 8–9 weeks to recover after the surgery.

Whereas in Yadav’s case he will take more time than expected. After his hernia operation it might take up to eight-nine weeks for him to start training. Hopefully he will be fit during the IPL.”

What Is “Sports Hernia” That Suryakumar Yadav Suffered?

Sports hernia is a tear in the ligament, tendon, or muscle of the groin area of the body. It is quite common among those who play sports, but that doesn’t mean that only those who play sports will get this injury. Medical officials often refrain from using the term “sports hernia” because, in this injury, only soft tissue inside the skin has been affected, and there’s no such case of an actual organ pushing through the opening of the connective tissues.
