Players got caught doing some weirdest acts on the cricket field, and here we have compiled the top 5 weirdest moments in IPL history that were so unpredictable for the fans to take center stage of a meme fest on social media.
#1 Andre Russell’s Bizarre Act During IPL 2023:
It was during the IPL 2023 match between KKR and DC when Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav was on a hat-trick and Andre Russell was at the non-striker’s end when Kuldeep Yadav was taking his run-up to bowl the hat-trick delivery. However, the audience noticed a weird thing going on at the non-striker end where Andre Russell instead of facing towards his teammate who was going to face the delivery caught facing towards deep mid-wicket. Though batters do such things as shadow practice, Russell was in his own world when he was caught doing that.
#2 When Keiron Pollard Taped His Mouth:
West Indian batter Keiron Pollard has been a known face in the IPL mainly due to his decade long association with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians where he played a key role in Mumbai Indians 5 title wins being an entertaining personality in cricket, Keiron Pollard has his own creative ways to lodge his dissatisfaction and in one of the most hilarious moments in the IPL history when Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore were going head to head at M Chinnaswamy stadium back in 2015 Keiron Pollard was trying to play mind games with Chris Gayle to distract the batter he was constantly building psychological pressure on Gayle by coming towards him and saying few words which didn’t go well with his West-Indian counterpart who raised his complaint to on-field Umpires.
On-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Vineet Kulkarni asked Pollard to stop chattering, dissatisfied with the umpires. Keiron Pollard found a unique way to express his dissatisfaction and taped his mouth, and the moment went viral on social media.
#3 Trent Boult To The Rescue
“Catches win matches,” the famous cricket quote, is a true fact, and cricket fans over the years have seen some of the most breath-taking catches in the IPL, which eventually decided the fate of the game, but this catch was quite unusual, where even the fans were in awe when it was taken by a player whom they were not expecting to be the one finishing the catch. It happened in IPL 2023 when Gujarat Titans’ Wriddhiman Saha was facing Rajasthan Royals’ Trent Boult, who has the reputation of taking wickets in his first over of the match, and this time as well, he made the batter make the mistake as Saha lifted the ball up in the air.
Three fielders started converging underneath the ball, but none got the catch. As Trent Boult, who was on the pitch, completed the catch, the cricket ball hit the wicketkeeper’s gloves and bounced again, which was later caught by Trent Boult, dismissing Wriddhiman Saha.
#4 Dinesh Karthik And Shikhar Dhawan Bro Code
Cricket players, despite playing for different teams in the domestic leagues, maintain a strong bond among themselves and try to enjoy every single moment while playing against their national teammates. One such hilarious incident happened back in IPL 2021 when the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals were facing each other. Shikhar Dhawan was batting for the Delhi Capitals, while Dinesh Karthik was guarding the wickets for KKR. During the match, Karthik tried to stump Dhawan, but the left-hander’s foot was well inside the crease that saved him, but Dinesh Karthik, in a fun way, shouted at Shikhar Dhawan, assumably questioning the batter why he didn’t keep his foot outside the crease, and Dhawan did this act:
#5 Amit Mishra’s Three Throws Dismissal
This run-out dismissal was probably one of the weirdest dismissals ever seen by cricket fans. It happened in the IPL 2015 when Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Amit Mishra was facing James Faulkner of Rajasthan Royals in the ultimate over of the first innings. It was the fourth delivery of the last over when Amit Mishra missed the ball, which was caught by Sanju Samson behind the wicket. Amit Mishra tried getting off the strike to bring his teammate Irfan Pathan on the receiving end, but Irfan Pathan refused to run. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson threw the ball, aiming the stumps, but missed the target. Amit Mishra was on the half way of the crease when the ball was again collected by Faulkner, who took the aim of the wickets now but also missed.
Amit Mishra was still in his own world and looked disappointed while making his way to the crease, though as a player, he should be quick enough to get back to his crease. Mishra decided to give up, but Sanju Samson took the chance and again collected the ball and hit the bull’s eye. Amit Mishra’s dismissal left the Rajasthan Royals’ fielders in splits.
