Amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the 58th match of the IPL 2025 was called off during the game at Dharamshala on Thursday. Punjab Kings was playing against Delhi Capitals and while batting first, Punjab Kings’ openers gave a solid start to the side both openers scored their fifties and took the score to 122 runs in 10 overs after the wicket of Priyansh Arya who scored 70 runs, Shreyas Iyer was getting ready to play but the official decision came to call-off the match due to the disruption at the border which led to the blackout at Dharamshala.

The heightened security concerns have impacted the future of the remaining matches of the IPL 2025. Will there be no matches until the situation gets under control at the border, or does IPL management have some other plans? Well, BCCI Chairman Arun Dhumal has the answer for today’s match. Here is what he said after meeting with the BCCI officials.

“Yes, it (LSG vs RCB) is on as of now, but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind.”

Arun Dhumal said

Though today’s venue is not in a border state, the security concerns are there, and if the situation escalates, fans have to wait to watch players on the field. The playoff race is getting tight as top teams in the points table are yet to book their seats for the next stage. If Yesterday’s match had been completed, and Punjab Kings had won, then their playoff berth would have been fixed, but that couldn’t happen, and both teams were awarded 1 point each.

If RCB wins today’s match, they will become the first team in the IPL 2025 to reach the playoffs, and LSG will be knocked out of the competition.
