How Arsenal’s Next Three Results Could Seal Title Challenge

Arsenal have a golden opportunity to put an end to Manchester United’s title aspirations as they are in a prime position to win their next three Premier League games. After a remarkable 4-2 comeback win against Aston Villa, the Gunners have re-established a stronghold at the top having taken two points clear of second-placed Manchester City and five points above Manchester United, who also have played one more game. Arsenal’s very recent form has demonstrated that they are ready to take the final step and claim their crown as Premiership champions should things go in their favor.

With the title race between Arsenal and Manchester United poised to come down to the wire, Arteta’s Gunners have a chance to turn the tide in their favor before the season ends. This Saturday, Arsenal will visit Leicester City for what could be a make-or-break match. A victory there could give them enormous momentum heading into their next two fixtures against Everton and Bournemouth on March 1 and 4 respectively. While it may be ambitious to expect three wins from those games alone, Arsenal fans can still keep their hopes up as the points advantage could rise to an insurmountable lead should their squad turn around these matches with aplomb. As we get closer to the season’s end, every move Arsenal makes has great consequence when it comes to winning roving bragging rights as Premier League champions.

The Red Devils are heading into a huge weekend of cup football action with a Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, followed by the FA Cup fifth round clash against West Ham United on March 1. Unfortunately for Manchester United supporters, this means that their side won’t be back in top-flight action until they take on Liverpool at Anfield on March 5. By then, Arsenal would have already played three league games which could mean that a 14 points lead could arise over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and essentially end their title charge. This makes it imperative for Manchester United to put extra effort and focus into their upcoming cup fixtures as they need to close the gap between themselves and Arsenal if they stand a chance of regaining the trophy they last won in 2013.

If Arsenal are to make any respectable claim to the title this season, then they simply must take all three points away at Anfield. With Liverpool in such fine form already, that is no easy task – the Red Devils have not beaten their arch-rivals on the road since 2016. Winning at Villa Park last weekend was a huge step for Arsenal, quieting some of the ever-growing pressure and creating a cautionary optimism around the club. Whatever happens from now until May, success or failure in Merseyside will surely determine whether they can add silverware to their cabinet this season or if their title pursuit is well and truly over.
