Kerala Blasters FC Recall Justine Emmanuel to Bolster Squad Amidst Kwame Peprah’s Season-Ending Injury

Kerala Blasters FC have officially brought back Justine Emmanuel from his loan stint at I-League’s Gokulam Kerala FC, aiming to reinforce their squad for the remainder of the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The decision to recall Emmanuel stems from a severe groin injury suffered by Kwame Peprah during the 2024 Super Cup, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Peprah, the 23-year-old striker, had made a significant impact with 12 appearances for Kerala Blasters in the ISL, contributing two goals and an assist. His notable performance included a crucial brace in the Super Cup’s opening fixture, securing a 3-1 victory over Shillong Lajong. However, an unfortunate groin injury in the final group game against NorthEast United resulted in a 4-1 defeat for the Yellow Army.

Justine Emmanuel, returning from a brief loan spell at Gokulam Kerala FC, is now expected to step up and fill the void left by Peprah’s absence. Having previously scored twice for Kerala Blasters in the 2023 Durand Cup, Emmanuel showcased promise during his loan tenure with Gokulam Kerala FC, netting once in 11 appearances across the I-League and Super Cup.

With high expectations from Kerala Blasters FC fans, Emmanuel’s goal will be to aid the team in securing playoff qualification and potentially contend for the coveted ISL Winner’s Shield in the second leg of the season. The anticipation among the Yellow Army supporters is palpable, and head coach Ivan Vukomanovic will likely strategize to leverage Emmanuel’s qualities for a strong campaign ahead.
