Rangers Stand Firm on Jack Butland Amid Birmingham City Interest

Rangers have quashed any hopes Birmingham City may have had of luring goalkeeper Jack Butland back to the club during the January transfer window. According to sources, the ex-England international is content at Ibrox and has no intentions of leaving Glasgow any time soon. Despite strong interest from Birmingham, where Wayne Rooney has recently been appointed manager, insiders claim there is “no chance” of Butland making the move in January.

Since joining Rangers in the summer on a free transfer, Butland has established himself as a fan favorite, registering seven clean sheets in 16 appearances. He has played every minute of every match for the club, including in the Europa League group stage. Upon his arrival, Butland penned a four-year contract with the Scottish club.

Rangers had been monitoring Butland for over a year and considered signing him last summer before Allan McGregor decided to continue his playing career. Butland, who has earned nine caps for England, last appeared for the Three Lions in 2018.

Rangers currently occupy second place in the Scottish Premiership but are trailing Celtic by seven points. They are set to face Hibernian on Saturday before heading to Sparta Prague for a Europa League match next Thursday.

Given Butland’s pivotal role in the team and his excellent performances, Rangers have no intention of letting him go in January.
