Scripting History: Why Lionel Messi is the Greatest Playmaker Football Has Ever Seen

Lionel Messi has yet again shown why he is considered a living legend in the world of football. His latest feat requires a double take as he has now become the very first player in history to clock 300 assists for just one club. It all began fifteen years ago, when he provided an assist to Ronaldinho at the tender age of fifteen wearing the number 30 jersey. In true Messi style, it was no ordinary assist either; it was a brilliant last-minute winner for Kylian Mbappe that sealed his place in history. As his feats continue to grow, Lionel Messi remains as committed and dedicated to FC Barcelona as ever before.

In 2023, after years of incredible skills and tactical finesse, Lionel Messi provided his 300th milestone club career assist to Kylian Mbappe wearing his iconic number ten jersey. The impressive connection resulted in Mbappe beating the offside trap to collect a through ball from the Argentine football great and rounded goalkeeper Marco Bizot before neatly slotting it into an empty net in the 90th minute. Adding yet another feather to Messi’s cap was that he racked up 13 assists just that season alone in Ligue 1, with a grand total of 31 assists for PSG across all competitions so far. Unsurprisingly, Messi’s incredible feat left fans in complete awe as they erupted on social media with eager compliments such as “The best playmaker in history of football” and “The greatest there was, is, and ever will be”. It was certainly no doubt a proud moment for the football world!

Wednesday night was a crushing blow to Paris Saint-Germain, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich. PSG had been so close to fulfilling their dream of lifting the trophy, but instead they were forced to bow out after a tight match. While it is certainly a disappointment, all hope is not lost for PSG. They still have the chance to win Ligue 1 this season and remain a powerhouse in French football – something that could bring some consolation in an otherwise disappointing campaign. PSG currently hold a comfortable eleven point lead over second-placed Marseille, which seems to suggest that barring any unforeseen events, the team should be able to hang on for the title.
