Tottenham’s Timo Werner Loan Set to End in Summer: No Permanent Move in Sight

Tottenham rules out permanent move for Timo Werner, loan expected to conclude in summer.

Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly ruled out a permanent move for Timo Werner this summer, according to sources from Football Insider. The forward joined N17 this month on loan from RB Leipzig for the remainder of the season, but insiders suggest he is expected to return to Germany at the end of the loan spell.

Werner’s loan deal includes a £15 million option to buy, with Spurs covering his full salary during his time at the London club. However, sources indicate that the club is not currently inclined to trigger this option unless the 27-year-old German striker delivers an outstanding second half of the season.

Since his arrival, Werner has made two appearances for Tottenham, earning his second Premier League debut with a start against Manchester United on January 14 and featuring in the FA Cup match against Manchester City on January 26, where they suffered a 1-0 loss. In these outings, he contributed with one assist, providing the crucial setup for Rodrigo Bentancur’s equalizer against the Red Devils.

Currently sitting fifth in the Premier League, Tottenham recently faced an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City on January 26. Looking ahead, their next league challenge is against Brentford on Wednesday, January 31.

As the club navigates the second half of the season, the decision not to pursue a permanent deal for Werner suggests a cautious approach by Spurs, perhaps waiting to assess the player’s impact in the coming months before committing to a long-term arrangement. The footballing world will keenly watch how Werner’s tenure at Tottenham unfolds and whether he can influence the club’s decision-making with his on-field performances.
