UP To Become Football Hub Of India: 827 Fields and 18 Stadiums Build Project Announced

On September 2, 2024, in the first-ever Kolkata Derby in the Lucknow KD Singh Babu Stadium, Yogi Adityanath, alongside other All Indian Football Federations senior members, announced the huge project of constructing 827 playgrounds and 18 new football stadiums in the UP.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Adityanath, 18 new football stadiums are being constructed, each in 18 national teams, supplemented with 827 pitches for quality football facilities in every nook and corner of the Northern Territory. These vast grounds and stadiums have been chalked out to give enough opportunities for training, tournaments, and competitions and to encourage a strong football culture nationwide.

Rapid Renovation and Commitment

This was announced at the venue in Lucknow on the day the two Mumbai-based rivals, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, clashed with each other. The renovation work of KD Singh Babu Stadium, where the derby was to be hosted, was completed in a record 19 days, reflecting the commitment and accountability of the government.

AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey thanked the CM for his immense support: “The rapid renovation of the stadium and extensive plans for new facilities are all giant leaps toward developing Uttar Pradesh into a powerhouse in football.”
