India Women’s Hockey Team Records Thrilling Draw in Asia Cup 2023 Opener vs Korea.

The Indian women’s hockey team put up a thrilling performance against Korea on Tuesday in their third match of the Junior Asia Cup 2023, held in Kakamigahara, Japan. After trailing 0-2 at half time, India registered an impressive 2-2 draw to keep their position at the top of Pool A.

The game saw Korea take an early lead with two goals from Yujin Lee (15′) and Jiyon Choi (30′). However, India fought back in the second half to score two goals within 11 minutes. Deepika Soreng (43′) equalised the scoreline, while Deepika scored her second goal in the 54th minute to secure the draw.

India displayed remarkable composure and tactical discipline in the second half, withstanding a series of attacks from Korea and maintaining possession for most of the third quarter. This allowed them to hold off their opponents and eventually clinch a point in what turned out to be an exciting game of hockey.

The result means that India remain unbeaten in the tournament with five points, while Korea are now on four points. The draw also puts India one point ahead of second placed Japan, who have four points after three games.

India will face Japan in their next game of the tournament on Thursday, 8th June. With the Indian team currently in form, it should prove to be an exciting encounter between two of Asia’s top teams.
