Indian Women’s Hockey Dominates in a Stellar 13-0 Victory Over Singapore in the 19th Asian Games Opener

The Indian women’s hockey team kick-started their 19th Asian Games campaign with a resounding 13-0 victory over Singapore in a Pool A match at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium.
India demonstrated their dominance right from the beginning, launching relentless attacks and securing two early penalty corners. Udita opened the scoring with a conversion in the 6th minute. Shortly after, India won a penalty stroke, which Sushila Chanu confidently slotted into the left bottom corner, extending India’s lead to 2-0.
The goals continued to pour in for India as Deepika converted a penalty corner in the 11th minute. Navneet Kaur followed suit with two goals, one from a penalty corner and another by maneuvering past Singapore’s defenders and goalkeeper, establishing India’s dominance with a 5-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter mirrored the first, with the Indian team maintaining control through ball possession and unrelenting attacks. Deep Grace and Neha converted penalty corners with ease, while Sangita Kumari scored a brilliant field goal, giving India a commanding 8-0 lead at halftime.
The onslaught didn’t stop there, as Sangita Kumari continued her scoring spree with goals in the 47th and 53rd minutes. Salima Tete and Monika added to Singapore’s misery with goals in the 35th and 52nd minutes, respectively. Vandana Katariya sealed the victory with a goal in the 56th minute, capping off an emphatic 13-0 triumph for India.
With this dominating performance, the Indian women’s hockey team has made a strong statement in their quest for success at the 19th Asian Games. They showcased their prowess and will be aiming for a medal in the upcoming matches, building on the momentum gained from this impressive victory.
