Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023: Six Nations Battle for Hockey Glory in Spectacular Tournament

The Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023, featuring six formidable teams, is set to ignite hockey excitement in Ranchi, India, from October 27 to November 5, promising world-class women’s hockey action

The Asian Hockey Federation and Hockey India have unveiled the schedule for the upcoming Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023. This exciting hockey tournament is set to feature six strong teams, including Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Korea, China, and the host nation, India. The competition is scheduled to commence on October 27 and will run until November 5.

The tournament’s opening day will see Malaysia facing off against Japan, followed by India taking on Thailand at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

In this round-robin format, all six teams will compete in one pool. The top four teams at the end of the group stage will advance to the semi-finals. The team that finishes first will play against the fourth-placed team, while the second and third-placed teams will compete for a spot in the final.

Defending champions Japan will face fierce competition from Korea, a team with an illustrious history in the tournament, having won it three times in 2010, 2011, and 2016.

Host nation India, coming off a bronze medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and a title victory at the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup Spain 2022, will seek to add another triumph to their record. They will kick off their campaign against Thailand on October 27 and face Korea in the last group stage match on November 2.

Hockey fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating the tournament, which promises top-notch hockey action and showcases the commitment of Hockey India to the development of the sport in Asia.

President of the Asian Hockey Federation, Dato Fumio Ogura, expressed his appreciation to Hockey India and the state of Jharkhand for their enthusiastic support and hospitality in hosting the prestigious Women’s Asian Champions Trophy.

Hockey India President Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey expressed pride in hosting another major Asian tournament and looks forward to an exciting competition featuring some of the world’s top women’s hockey teams.
