Lions Come Back Strong| Puneri Paltan

Kabaddi team Puneri Paltan representing Pune, Maharashtra, has had a tumultuous journey in the professional kabaddi league. Despite being a founding member of the league, the team struggled in its first two seasons and finished last. However, Paltan’s team quickly learned from their mistakes and made a stunning comeback in the 2016 (January) season, reaching the playoffs for the first time in team history.

They continued their success in 2017, earning another playoff berth, but inconsistencies plagued their performances in 2018-19, keeping them out of the playoffs. Nonetheless, the Partanians showed resilience, beating Tamil Talaywas in a thrilling match to make it all the way to the semi-finals of Vivo Pro Kabaddi League Season 9.

The current captain of the team is Fazel Atrachali. He is one of the most successful foreign players in the history of the professional kabaddi league and is currently the only foreign player among the top 10 tacklers in league history. In the 4th VIVO Pro Kabaddi League, he won the Best Defender of the Season Award. He is the highest paid foreign player in the professional kabaddi league

Led by coach BC Ramesh, the Paltans are known for their never-say-die attitude and fierce determination to succeed. Their Season 9 semi-final victory over Tamil Thalaivas earned them their first professional Kabaddi League final berth, where they will face the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
