Haryana Steelers vs Patna Pirates: The final match of the Pro Kabaddi League season 11 brought joy to the faces of the Haryana Steelers’ fans. The team, which finished last season as a runner-up, clinched the trophy this season to become the new champions of the PKL.
Haryana Steelers bagged the winning prize of INR 3 crores, whereas Patna Pirates got INR 1.8 crores.
From the first whistle of the game, the Haryana Steelers showed the spectators why they had dominated the tournament so far. Star all-rounder Shadloui tackled Patna Pirates’ raider Devank Dalal in his first raid, and youngster Shivam Patare got the first touchpoint for his team to take the lead in the initial minutes of the game.
Patna Pirates retaliated, with Ankit getting the first point for his team by tackling Vinay Tewatia, followed by Devank Dalal scoring a touchpoint in his raid. Despite equaling the scoreline, the Steelers got ahead with their defense and raiding departments working in sync. Sudhakar came to the rescue of Patna Pirates and scored points in raids to get closer to Haryana. Ayan Lohchab scored the first multi-point raid of the night as Patna started closing the points gap.
Haryana was down to 3-men, but Shivam Patare’s brilliant tackle didn’t let Haryana go down further. At the end of the first half, Haryana had the lead of 3 points, with the scoreline standing at 15-12.
Both teams were cautious about taking any risks in the second half as the pace of the game slowed. Gurdeep from Patna’s side kept scoring points in defense, but he got little support from the Raiders, as Haryana’s defense didn’t let them score points. In the 10th minute of the second half, Vinay Tewatia scored a 2-point raid to increase the lead further. In the 12th minute, Haryana inflicted the first all-out of the game to reach closer to the trophy.
With the game’s final whistle, the Haryana Steelers led by 32-23 and became the champions.
